BYD’s (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) premium brand Denza today commenced pre-sales for the N8L, targeting the family vehicle market with a large six-seat SUV (sport utility vehicle).
The N8L offers two variants during pre-sales, priced starting at RMB 319,800 ($44,820) and RMB 349,800.
The large six-seat plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) measures 5,200 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm.
The N8L can be viewed as a slightly scaled-down version of Denza’s flagship N9 SUV launched in March, which measures 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, and 1,830 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.
The model incorporates BYD’s e3 technology, which is a scaled-down version of BYD’s e4 technology designed for ultra-luxury vehicles. It delivers three-motor independent drive capability and rear-wheel steering functionality.
The N8L’s front motor delivers a peak power of 200 kW, while both rear motors provide a peak power of 180 kW each. Its engine displacement is 1,995 ml, with an output of 152 kW.
This powertrain enables 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds.
The N8L utilizes BYD’s blade battery specifically designed for PHEVs, delivering a CLTC battery range of 230 kilometers. With a full tank and fully charged battery, the combined range reaches 1,300 kilometers.
Like many other models, it features an onboard refrigerator, a large entertainment screen for rear seats, and cabin integration with the DeepSeek AI large model.
The N8L also incorporates multiple new technologies, including BYD’s DiSus-A chassis control system and high-speed flat tire stability system.
Denza had previously launched the N8 in August 2023, but the hybrid SUV has since been discontinued. The N8L’s exterior design differs significantly from the N8.
Denza sold 11,993 units in August, marking a 20.06 percent year-on-year increase and a 5.43 percent rise from July, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The brand’s August sales comprised 8,712 units of the D9 MPV, 1,102 units of the Z9 series, 2,021 units of the N9, and 158 units of the N7.
