    • The updated Yangwang U7 BEV variant will become the model with the longest battery range under BYD’s umbrella.
    • The current U7 starts at RMB 628,000 ($89,800), the only Yangwang model priced below RMB 1 million.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) will equip its ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang’s updated U7 with an ultra-high-capacity battery pack delivering over 1,000 kilometers of range.

The luxury sedan’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant will feature either a 135.5 kWh or 150.01 kWh battery pack, according to regulatory documents released yesterday by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The 135.5-kWh battery pack weighs 903 kilograms and delivers an 800-kilometer CLTC range. The 150.01-kWh pack weighs 926 kilograms and provides a CLTC range between 860 and 1,006 kilometers.

These battery packs have energy densities of 150 Wh/kg and 162 Wh/kg, respectively, according to CnEVPost calculations.

The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variant of the U7 will feature a 52.4-kWh battery pack weighing 446 kilograms, delivering a CLTC battery range of 200 kilometers.

This positions the updated Yangwang U7 as the model with the longest battery range under BYD’s umbrella.

The U7, Yangwang’s first sedan, was launched on March 27, 2025, as the brand’s third model.

The current Yangwang U7 lineup offers four variants — two BEV and two PHEV versions –with a starting price of RMB 628,000 ($89,800).

While among the priciest models from domestic brands, it remains the only Yangwang offering priced below RMB 1 million.

The current Yangwang U7 BEV features a 135.5 kWh battery pack delivering a CLTC range of 720 kilometers. The PHEV variant utilizes a 52.4 kWh battery pack.

Its dimensions are 5,265 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,517 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm.

Built on Yangwang’s e4 platform, the U7 is powered by four electric motors, each delivering a peak power of 240 kW. This results in a combined output of 960 kW and peak torque of 1,584 Nm.

The powertrain enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.

Beyond the U7, Yangwang’s current lineup includes the U8 off-road SUV (starting at RMB 1.098 million), the U8L (starting at RMB 1.28 million), and the U9 electric supercar (starting at RMB 1.68 million).

Yangwang sold 703 vehicles in November, bringing its January-November sales to 3,862 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
