    • The auto group’s models equipped with Seyond products will go into mass production in 2026, with sales expected to reach hundreds of thousands over the next three years.

Chinese LiDAR supplier Seyond has entered into a supply partnership with one of China’s leading auto groups, marking a breakthrough for the company in expanding its customer base beyond Nio (NYSE: NIO).

Seyond announced today that it has partnered with a leading Chinese automotive group to exclusively supply its 905 nm Robin series E1X products to multiple brands under the group’s umbrella.

The automotive group’s models equipped with the Robin E1X are expected to enter mass production in 2026, with sales projected to reach hundreds of thousands of units over the next three years, according to Seyond.

This collaboration represents a significant milestone in Seyond’s commercialization process, marking a leap forward in terms of customer status, product categories, and the number of vehicle models, the company said in a statement today, without disclosing the name of the customer.

Seyond was founded in 2016 and has R&D centers in Silicon Valley, Suzhou, and Shanghai, as well as LiDAR manufacturing facilities in Ningbo and Suzhou.

The company was originally named Innovusion and rebranded as Seyond in December 2023.

On March 28, 2022, Nio delivered its first batch of ET7 vehicles, marking the mass production of Seyond’s LiDAR products.

Since the ET7, all Nio brand models have been equipped with the 1,550-nm Falcon LiDAR provided by Seyond on their roofs. Nio Inc’s sub-brand Onvo and Firefly models do not use any LiDAR.

The Falcon series long-range LiDAR uses a hybrid solid-state two-dimensional scanning solution with a wavelength of 1,550 nm and a maximum detection range of 500 meters.

The Robin E1X has a smaller size but weaker performance, with a standard detection range of 200 meters and a maximum detection range of 250 meters.

The Robin E1X has already secured a supply partnership with a new automotive startup and began mass production this year, Seyond said, without disclosing the name of the customer.

Seyond’s Falcon series LiDAR has cumulative shipments exceeding 500,000 units, though its primary customer since inception has been Nio.

In the automotive LiDAR sector, the largest players are publicly listed Hesai Group (NASDAQ: HSAI) and RoboSense Technology (HKG: 2498).

Earlier this year, several domestic media outlets reported that Seyond was seeking to list in Hong Kong, with one possible method being a back-door listing.

Nio ET9 and 4th-gen swap station bring more support to LiDAR maker Seyond

ET9 adds two Robin W medium-range wide-angle LiDARs for the first time, in addition to one Falcon ultra-long-range LiDAR. Nio’s fourth-generation swap station will feature six Robin W LiDARs.
