Yangwang, the ultra-luxury sub-brand of BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), today unveiled its new U8L SUV (sport utility vehicle) on the first day of the Shanghai auto show.

The U8L is a longer version of Yangwang’s first model, the U8 off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle), and will be launched in the second half of this year.

The U8L measures 5,400 mm in length, 2,049 mm in width and 1,921 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,250 mm.

These dimensions are larger than those of the regular U8, which measures 5,319 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width and 1,930 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,050 mm.

The U8L has the longest body dimensions, largest wheelbase, and largest second-row space of any mainstream SUV in its class, according to Yangwang.

The model’s prestige is emphasized by the use of three oracle gold badges made of 24-carat real gold.

Yangwang did not announce the price of the U8L, but said it would be much more expensive than the U8.

The 2025 Shanghai auto show starts today and will end on May 2, with Yangwang’s booth at 8A02.

The U8, Yangwang’s first model, was launched on September 20, 2023, with a starting price of RMB 1,098,000 ($150,440).

On February 25, 2024, Yangwang launched the U9, the 2-seater electric supercar with a starting price of RMB 1.68 million.

On March 27 this year, the brand launched its third model, the U7 sedan, with a starting price of RMB 628,000 yuan.

Yangwang delivered 133 vehicles in March, bringing first-quarter deliveries to 524, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

On April 21, Yangwang announced on Weibo that it reached its 10,000th delivery.

At a media briefing today, Yangwang announced that the U8 has reached 10,000 cumulative deliveries.
